Reconnect with Loved Ones

Essential Visits at
Long-Term Care Homes

Many families have been unable to see their loved ones, who are living in long-term care homes due to the COVID pandemic. It has been causing loneliness and creating hopelessness for those in LTC facilities and their families.

For some people, Essential Visits are now allowed to support their care and well-being.
Care for A Lift has been providing eligible residents with opportunities to safely visit with family. Let us help you organize an opportunity to reconnect with your loved ones and support their mental well-being.

Our vehicles are outfitted with plexiglass barriers between the companion and passengers. Companions, Drivers and Passengers are all required to wear masks. Windows are open slightly to allow better air flow and all touch spots are sanitized between clients ensuring safer spaces for your trip. These visits are possible inside or outdoors, if weather is permitting.

If you’d like to discuss the different options that may be suitable for your family please use the message form below to get in touch.

What can you expect on an essential visit?

Supporting Seniors and their Families

Since COVID has impacted our communities, “Essential Visits” have been a focus for Maryanne & Care for a Lift. Many adult children of parents living in long-term care homes are wanting to help them attend short family gatherings while abiding with COVID protection guidelines.

Every care home has their own safety protocol and these are respected. At Care for a Lift, we take extra precautions to ensure the safety of our clients, their families and all our Drivers & Companions.

I still think how important it was for me to have my own mother over for special family events” and for that, Care for A Lift is inspired in memory of her Mom. “I can't imagine what families are going through now.  If I can reunite families during this difficult time, I'm committed to supporting as many families as possible. It's a beautiful thing when you're a big part of making these precious family memories happen. Truly an honour.”

Client Stories

Essential Visits.jpg

My wife, Peggy, is wheelchair-bound and a resident of Totem Lodge in Sechelt. Being wheelchair-bound means that she is not able to use conventional public or private transportation to attend medical appointments on the Sunshine Coast.  For many like Peggy, the handyDART service available on the Coast provides a most satisfactory service that is focussed on getting clients to and from medical appointments in a safe and reliable manner.  For those who would prefer, or need, a more one-to-one service with some comforting add-ons provided as part of the service, Care for A Lift Services is the answer. I have used Care For A Lift to get Peggy to and from medical appointments, in a Sidewinder converted van for wheelchair transportation, accompanied at all times by a person experienced in working with those hampered by cognitive and/or physical issues.  I have also used Care For A Lift to take Peggy out  recently for a sightseeing ride and picnic.  The Care For A Lift experience is always about more than just getting there and back safely.

Maryanne and her Care For A Lift wheelchair van made it possible for my mother to travel to see her family together on her birthday. Maryanne’s warm personality and experience working with seniors also gave our family confidence knowing that our mother was in very good hands.
